About
Louise Vernieux
Clinical Neuropsychologist
BSc(Hons) Mpsych(Clin)(Neuro) MAPS
I’m a Clinical Neuropsychologist with more than 30 years’ experience and the founder of Minds in Motion. For over 15 years, my work has focused on medico-legal assessment — independent, court-ready reports for clients aged 16 and over. I see clients across Melbourne and, since 2025, throughout regional Victoria — Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Warrnambool, Portland, Horsham, the Otways and beyond — where access to medico-legal neuropsychology is limited.
I trained in psychology at Deakin University and undertook postgraduate training in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology at the University of Queensland. I currently hold an endorsement in clinical neuropsychology with AHPRA. Over my early career, I worked as a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist across rehabilitation, geriatric, and child assessment services, primarily assessing and managing traumatic and acquired brain injury, neurodivergence and other neurodevelopmental conditions, dementia, and decision-making capacity. I founded Minds in Motion in 2006.
I assess people from all walks of life, and I take the time to build rapport so the experience is as comfortable as possible. Most of my clients have been through something difficult, and I do my best to ensure the assessment isn’t another ordeal but a space where they can speak openly and be met with a considered, compassionate response. I conduct every assessment personally — there are no junior assessors and no outsourced report-writing.
After many happy years in the city, the pull of rural life drew my family out to a wood-fire-warmed home on the Victorian Goldfields plateau, where I’ve thrown myself into regenerative farming, permaculture, native revegetation and habitat restoration — usually with two very happy (and very muddy) dogs at my heels.

Principles
01
Clinical Rigour
I ground every assessment in current neuropsychological science, using validated instruments and evidence-based interpretation — including a gold-standard evaluation of validity, that is, whether the findings genuinely reflect the client’s abilities.
02
Medico-Legal Precision
I write my reports to meet the exacting standards of courts, tribunals and agencies — clearly reasoned, defensible, and free of unnecessary jargon — consistent with the Expert Witness Code of Conduct and the Civil Procedure Act 2010.
03
Human Centred are
I assess with sensitivity to each person’s circumstances — cultural and religious background, trauma history, gender identity, sexuality and neurodiversity — so every client is seen as a whole person, not a claim number or a diagnosis.
